StatMap° v4 Alerts: What You Can Alert On

Which events trigger alerts in Statistical Mapping° and Statistical Volatility° v4, what the messages look like and how to create the alert in TradingView.

Both indicators can notify you through TradingView alerts, so you do not have to watch every level and every candle yourself. This guide lists exactly which events Statistical Mapping° (StatMap°) and Statistical Volatility° (StatVol°) alert on in version 4, what the messages look like, and how to keep the number of alerts under control.

Statistical Mapping° alerts

StatMap° alerts are automatic. There is no list of conditions to pick from: once you create an alert on the indicator, it covers every level you have enabled.

What triggers an alert

  • Price reaches an enabled Distribution level: [+] Distribution above the open or [-] Distribution below it.
  • Price reaches an enabled Manipulation level: [-] Manipulation above the open or [+] Manipulation below it.
  • A liquidity level is swept. Liquidity alerts only fire on sweeps.

There is no alert on the Open.

How often

Each level alert fires once per period of its row and resets when that period ends. A 1D level alerts at most once per day, a 4H level once per 4-hour period.

What the message looks like

The message contains the direction ([+] for the bullish case, [-] for the bearish case), the timeframe or session label and the level name, for example:

[+] 1D Distribution

How to get fewer alerts

Because alerts follow the enabled levels, the way to limit them is to disable the level styles you do not trade in the Style settings, or to switch off timeframe and session rows you do not need. What each level means is explained in What is Statistical Mapping?.

Statistical Volatility° alerts

StatVol° alerts are configurable in the indicator settings. The Enable Alerts switch is on by default. Below it you choose which displacement events trigger an alert:

AlertWhen it firesDefault
CreationA new displacement is detected.On
First TouchPrice touches the top or bottom boundary of the displacement for the first time.On
Midpoint TouchPrice touches the 50% line of the displacement.Off

Each alert type fires once per displacement. After a First Touch alert, for example, the same displacement will not send another First Touch alert.

What the messages look like

Messages contain the direction (▲ Bullish or ▼ Bearish), the displacement timeframe, type and ratio, and the event, for example:

  • ▲ Bullish Displacement (1H FVG 285%) – Displacement Creation
  • ▼ Bearish Displacement (Chart Range 320%) – Displacement First Touch
  • ▲ Bullish Displacement (15m Body 245%) – Displacement Midpoint Touch

Which combination to use

The settings documentation suggests:

  • Active traders: all three, to follow a displacement from creation to its midpoint.
  • Swing traders: Creation and First Touch, to catch new moves and the first reaction.
  • Reversion traders: Midpoint Touch, to watch for moves back into the displacement.

The displacement settings that decide which displacements exist in the first place, such as Type, Timeframe and Volatility Filter, are listed in the StatMap° v4 Settings Reference.

Creating the alert in TradingView

The steps are the same for both indicators:

  1. Add the indicator to your chart and finish your settings: timeframes, sessions, enabled levels or alert types.
  2. Click the alert icon in TradingView, or use Add alert on from the indicator menu.
  3. Select Statistical Mapping° or Statistical Volatility° as the condition source.
  4. Choose Any alert() function call.
  5. Pick your notifications, for example app, popup, email or webhook.

An alert uses the indicator settings from the moment you create it. If you change the settings later, create the alert again. The TradingView side, including notification types and alert management, is covered step by step in How to Set Up Alerts in TradingView.
